A fun Puppet Show

Yesterday, I took the kids to see a puppet show at the Laurel Library. The production was The Three Billy Goats Gruff by  Dragon Wings Marionettes company.

Overall, the show was cute and fun. It's an adaptation of the classic story designed to be a little less scary for kids. Instead of a mean troll who wanted to eat goats, the troll was a fun loving ogre who loved to wrestle, and was a vegetarian. The confusion about the goat eating arises because the troll doesn't know what a goat is. Seeing a sign about goats near a field of radishes, the troll mistakenly assumes that this delicious new root vegetable he's been eating is called a "goat."

It's definitely worth seeing if you've got the time. The puppet show will be performed at the New Carrollton library, 7414 Riverdale Road, New Carrollton, MD 20784, (301) 459-6900, July 28 at 2 p.m.  The show is FREE, and runs about 45 minutes.
